I think vintage and antique plastic is fantastic! I love vintage plastic jewelry and very much so bakelite jewelry. The quality and wonderful feeling about bakelite jewelry makes it irresistible to me. The history about costume jewelry and bakelite jewelry was somewhat democratic. After World war II costume jewelry made it possible for more women to afford jewelry. When we look att bakelite jewelry and other vintage costume jewelry today it´s wonderful to see it was made with such a good quality. Hunting for bakelite jewelry to a resonable price is also like hunting for treasures as this is the antiques of tomorrow. There are also other types of old plastic like casein, celluloid, catalin, lucite. The designs and colors are both bold and elegant in a way new plastic jewelry seldome are. The way I see it this kind of jewelry was ment to be colorful and fun even if it also was used to imitate more valuable materials. So don't be conservative about how to wear them. To match can be beautiful but it can also be beautiful to mix colors and to use a vintage bangle with a modern one of a different kind. Mix match and just enjoy!
