The kitchen is favorite room in my home, Although these photos were taken in my D.R.
I've added some of my kitchen collections to the homemade hutch we made mostly from materials leftover from home remodeling.
I love baking, cooking and collecting gadgets for my kitchen.
I've collected rolling pins from Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.
I do not know any details about them.
I also inherited a marble rolling pin (not pictured) from my grandmother.
I bought the milk can shaped cookie jar in Virginia.
I cannot make out the lettering/numbers on the bottom of the Milk cookie jar. I'm hoping someone will recognize it from the photos.

The markings are USA JP. (the P could possibly be a D but I see it as a P) I blew the image up to 200%, reversed the colors and then did the temperature, tint, saturation etc. You might be able to do a rubbing on this to verify. It looks good enough to display the image in a rubbing.

Thank you fhrjr2 for doing so much to figure it out.
Rubbing sounds like a great idea =^)

Did you notice the two letters at the top? Looks like SP or SA
    4. fhrjr2 fhrjr2, 11 years ago
Yes I did notice them and intentionally didn't mention them. I would say it is SA but very well could be 6A. The A is fairly distinct compared to the first digit.

Ok, now... where's a pencil LoL

Pulled out my derwent sketch kit - tried rubbing & even used a material similar to putty. Neither of which yielded a clear image.

I have seen the USA mark many times, sometimes associated with McCoy, Shawnee, and others. The USA mark can be very generic, but a USA mark with numbers or artist signatures/initials gives you a real chance to know who mfgd it with a lot of study. If you're like me, the mfg is secondary to the piece
    13. Aimathena Aimathena, 11 years ago
Yes, AboundingOddities... I am more about the piece than who made it and its value. Thank you for the great comment.
