Senchi, just a suggestion but if you try cropping your photos, just a bit, they may come out the right way around. It worked on mine after trying for ages to get them right.
Sorry i can't help with the vase. It seems there's not a lot of people on here who can help with Asian things, I've a couple of things I've had here for awhile but got nowhere with them:(
