This little vintage liqueur set was made it Czechoslovakia. It is made of very thin glass and appears to be hand-decorated. It is in excellent condition. I have searched for anything like it on line but have not found anything comparable. My best guess is that because it is so fragile there might not too many sets around - but I could be wrong:(

    Thanks for looking:)

The set may be vintage but the sticker on the bottom isn't

fhrjr2, thanks for your comment. I never claim to be correct unless I am 100% sure, because you never know but.... I bought the set for $1 at a church sale and I really don't care much about it at all. I will give it away for free to someone who likes it enough to want to have it; I find it neat and someone else might agree with me.

About the sticker: you seem to be a very educated man so I don't need to give a history lesson about the "Velvet Revolution" of 1989 and dissolution of Czechoslovakia in 1993. Unless someone went to a lot trouble to recreate this sticker to put on a next to worthless piece of glass for no financial gain whatsoever, this sticker is 20 years or older. To me this is close enough to qualify as vintage since the definition of "vintage" is not an exact science and, by the way, neither is the definition of "antique" even though many people believe it to be 100+ years.

I really enjoy this site because everyone is so friendly and shares their knowledge. So, please, If you know for sure that the sticker is a fake, let me know why you think so.

(By the way, although this has not much to do with the issue, I have studied in the beautiful city of Prague in 1980 and I absolutely adore the culture and traditions in this amazing place)

The sticker is real my friend, it is a foil sticker. Vintage and antique Czech glass is acid etched with the mark. You will find the foil stickers on everything imported whether it be Wal-Mart or a dollar store. Whether it is from India or China.

As for being an antique, I use the official government rule of 100 years. Vintage could be anything older than me.

You might be right, however, as for vintage being older that you, as a woman, I disagree. I have been "29" for as long as I can remember and I don't consider myself vintage.
By the way, I bought several pieces of Czechoslovakian glass and crystal and they are not acid etched. They would be considered vintage now because I purchased them such a long time ago. I suppose it also depends on the manufacturer and the quality of the piece and again on the definition of vintage.
      Thanks for answering:)

Thanks so much, czechman! I was thinking all night and remembered that I have a salt shaker with the same sticker - and that one is definitely original and authentic. I was going to post it but now I can save the trouble. Once again thank you so much for you input. I am certainly no expert at all - but I love to learn and listen :)

      JayHow, I agree with you.
I also would love to give this set to a new home:) and as far as I am concerned you are the best person to have it. The only problem I have is the fact that I am in Canada and postage from here is almost like highway robbery. Even though I am giving it away for free, it could cost me around $50 to ship it and in my humble opinion, it's not worth the trouble. In the future, should I find a better to get it to you it will be yours. It has your name on it:)

JayHow, you are very kind. Like I said, if I find a way to get it to you, you can have it. I don't use it nor do I collect these sets but I couldn't leave it behind because I thought someone would appreciate it. Maybe in the future we find a way. Have a great day!
