My Dad won't talk about his time served in Korean War. I have no idea what his wings mean. I think they are pinned to his uniform in the USO picture. It is a bit embarrassing that I ask you to give me more info. All I know is he was 21 and I think he flew in B29 aircraft as a navigator. I could be wrong.
Thanks for any more information. I would like to pass the wings on to another generation.

Those are Air Gunner wings. The badge was created to recognize both the training and hazardous duty of aerial gunners, the men who manned machineguns on board such aircraft as the B-29.

I like that they were made into a bracelet. These bracelet wings became popular in WW2-- some worn as sweetheart items and some worn by the service member (during and after the war).

Thank you Chrisnp for identifying these. Would the wings be different for each crewman's specialty? My dad's in his 80's now and very mellow. Maybe he'll answer my questions this time.

Thanks Scott - I hoped you would comment. I had seen some wonderful examples out antique shopping. Just happened to have the perfect color/weight bracelet. I very gently curved the wings but I can flatten them back again if one of my brothers or nephews wants this someday. I inherited my dad's nose....sadly. But you can't see that in my profile thanks to my faithful Bevo.

I wouldn't try and flatten them out.
These were probably made during the period of use and may have been bought this way/ never been a shirt set for him. I have found these wing bracelets in WW2 vet estates along with other "shirt" wings.
Maybe your father will recall if he bought them this way/ had them made.

Well - it was flat and had the double prong w/post clamp clips to attach it to uniform. He gave this to me when I was a teenager and I had them in my jewelry box, moved to 4 states, many apts.... and thankfully didn't lose them. I remember the official AF photo - my mother has the 8x10 altho they've been divorced for 40 yrs. Anyway he's wearing the wings in that photo. Maybe he bought them for that photo? Yes - I will be very careful. Because it isn't pure silver they might break right in half. Someday I hope to meet you at one of your antique fairs.
