I believe this is a German made longcase clock, sometimes referred to as "landing clocks". I have kept it in working order but I don't know the year it was made or clockmaker who made it. Can anyone identify the clockmaker trademark?

If no one can identify that mark here, try going to the NAWCC message board and posting it there under Clocks General. http://mb.nawcc.org/forumdisplay.php?9-Clocks-General
Nice looking clock. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give it a try because I'm stumped.

It was apparently made by Urgos a German clockmaker circa 1930. It's certainly a unique one and a great chime sound.

I have one very similar to this one I purchased in a village in the Netherlands. The mechanism is stamped British Manufacture. I don't know the history yet. But I'm happy to see one similar to mine. Although mine is English...I'm wondering of why the similarities with yours of apparent German origin.

According to my research although my clock is of German origin it was produced in the Brittish style popular at the time for use in the stair landings of town homes. Hence the occasional reference as a landing clock. I'm very fond of it since its easy to maintain and not overly ornamental.

Great to know. I've always referred to mine as a granddaughter clock for its size. Interesting that my clock sits on a landing of my staircase! I placed it there for its perfect size - like the landing was made perfectly for it. Thanks immensely for share that bit of info! grateful.
