Funny how things change in life: I used to hate these binoculars when I was a child because my grandmother used them to "spy" on me when I played outside with my friends. She used to sit in her room and use them to make sure I was safe. No need to say that this was not cool. Now these old, beaten up pair of binoculars have a different meaning for me: they somehow remind me of my childhood and remind me of a wonderful, caring person, my grandmother.

    Thanks for looking:)

Thanks, JayHow, for your nice comment. You are so correct: Times have changed. But one thing will never change - we want our children to be safe. It's just becoming a bit more challenging these days and requires more than a pair of binoculars.

They have that Civil War era look to them. Don't we have somebody on CW who can tell? (Scott?)

Blunderbuss2, I think they could be from the time of WWI, but I really don't know. My grandmother passed away in the mid 1980's at almost 100 years old; and with her passing, all the stories died too. I always think of it as closing a door forever: once the person dies you cannot ask any more questions. The moral of it is to ask while you can. (I am not sure if I made myself clear)
