Enjoyed Lisa Hix feature on Native American fashion.

This is a good example of a 1950's or 60's tourist item. The coin purse is 6"x3.5" and lined in suede. It was made here in the US. I'm not sure where it was originally from but I would guess gas stations along Rt. 66, 10 or 40.

I enjoyed your story - thanks for posting it! I love fashion w/Native American influence - motifs - but was aware that they shouldn't be posted as Navajo or Zuni or Sioux (specific to tribes) unless they are authentic. I have more tourist items to post but was in a bead mood so this was the first.

I had one of these when I was young. We bought them at a souvenir shop in the badlands of South Dakota. It was so much fun and they were the coolest souvenir's we bought. Thanks for the good flashback memory.
