State of New York, city of
Port Washington,(on Long Island) Fire Department, Flower Hill Hose
Company number 1, Ex-President 14k Gold lapel button, 15.8 mm in diameter.
Front: crossed horns within legend "EX PRES. FLOWER HILL HOSE CO. 1"
in black enameled letters. Back: screw back and marked "14k". The round
    nut fastener is inscribed "C G BRAXMAR CO 216 E 45TH ST. N.Y." which
dates this piece 1948 or later. Weight: without the round fastener is
3.44 grams from which I subtract the weight of the screw post 0.27 gram
=3.17 grams at 14k which means this badge contains .059 oz of pure gold
(The weight of the screw post was determined by
cutting down a screw with the same diameter to a length slightly longer than
the screw post on this badge)

Thanks every one. This is an example of a regionally and historically interesting item. Sadly it is only seen as a piece of gold and valued accordingly by most people.
