i have this tool in my tool box for a few years. this tool is made of steel with a wooden handle, on the bottom of the steel there is a grove.

That is for making a bead joint and is used by a mason. It is the reverse of a grapevine jointer. It would have been used inside where the grapevine jointer could be used inside or outside. The pointed end is for use in corners where mortar joints meet to make a neat job. I believe they are available through Goldblatts still although they are not terribly popular.
Not sure I explained that well. The difference is one makes a concave joint the other is convex. The handle is off set so your knuckles don't contact the bricks as you are jointing your work.

His name was actually Joseph Tyzack. Yes Isle of man. Obviously you didn't care for my reply but if you research Joseph Tyzack you will see I am right.
PS: the leg symbol indicates only the patent of how the handle was attached.
