Here is my ATWATER KENT 10B Breadboard Tube Radio with all 5 - 01A tubes. Circa 1924
The 10B is a fairly rare radio as it was soon replaced by the 10C in the same year. The radio is a well sought after classic as it is a magnificent showpiece of early 1920's from one of the greatest radio manufacturers ever...Atwater Kent.
This radio has an inspection tag which lists who wired, soldered, mounted and inspected it! The radio is also numbered and this radio was number 4550.
To operate the radio you first needed some batteries to supply power as there were no electric radios in 1924, a ground/earth wire was also good for reception. You also needed to connect a loudspeaker and a good antenna. Then you would adjust the 3 large dials to get the best reception.
The radio is a real eyecatcher then and now and I still find it hard to believe that it was made in 1924.
