Oak clock that came from my husbands grandfather. Do not know the history or value but would love for someone to direct me in the right direction to find history on clock.

      Hi Lynnine,

You have a Sessions "Grand No. 1" from circa 1915. It is described in my reference as an oak wood case mantel clock measuring almost 23 inches high and 10 inches wide with a 6 inch dial. It was equipped with an 8-day hour, half-hour strike. The stenciled pattern on the glass looks original to the "Grand" clocks. At auction these clocks in decent condition normally sell for somewhere between $100-$150. An excellent example may go for nearly twice that retail. Thanks for sharing.

      P.S.

These types ornately carved, or pressed wood case clocks were often referred to as "Gingerbread Clocks". Those with alarms were sometimes called "Kitchen Clocks".
