These are some bakelite or catalin items I've had for 20 years or so. You might recognize them from earlier posts.
Last year Newtimes told me about an Etsy shop that restored bakelite. I found some interesting green and white mottled bracelets on their site - all refinished to delicate jade-like hues. I think my pieces might have started their lives much lighter perhaps appealing to a 1940's or 50's housewife who could not afford jade. I love the colors they are now.
You have such a great bakelite collection!
I love these... Sort of wanna go shopping on ebay now...
Gorgeous shade!!
Happy New Year Val!
Thank you Phil for your nice comment.
Thank you Newtimes. I enjoy looking at that etsy store and I'm tempted to send something in for restoration if I can get a better deal on his prices. Thanks for your compliment - I'm missing a kick-ass red bracelet. Hope I find one in 2014.
I hope 2014 will be a great year for finding bakelite for both of us!
Nadia - I found these bracelets for $8.00 total about 10 yrs ago at a Goodwill in Omaha. Chunkier spacers don't you think?
Thanks bobogal - I like the darker green better.

Happy new year to you too Jono!

Nadia - I just bought something today on ebay....I hope it wasn't a mistake, a chunky green cuff w/rhinestones. Will post when it arrives.
xoxox :-)
Love you Aim!!!
Thank you bratjdd and geo26e for your love!
Luv ya too my dear sweet friend.
I have a couple bracelets you might want.
I'll email photos to you.
Thanks Aim - would like to see your bracelets. Happy New Year - keep warm!
Val, have you preformed the smell test on your pieces?
Yes - run some hot water and rub them. It will give off a certain chemical smell. Mostly I use simichrome which gives off a yellow discharge. If you have a metal polish you can use a little bit of it and might get the same result.
I just did the hot water test, if it is Bakelite, I'm not smelling it.
Could be Lucite - which are very nice too, but don't have a smell.
Either way they're yours if you want them. just email me your address.
Love the colour!..:-)
Thank you inky for the love and comment. It's a very wearable shade of green.
Thank you MJ and Dean!
nuts - I don't like calling you nuts, do you have another nickname for me to use? Thank you! I just bought another spinach green bangle on ebay. When I get it I'll let you know if it is bakelite or not. Wasn't too expensive. Thank you for enjoying my stuff!
XOXO Lee!
