I found this (miniture) Tricycle inside an older falling down house on our property off the Natchez Trace in Mississippi. I was wondering if anyone can give us some information on it and what we can do to preserve the metal from rusting, etc. We didn't want to do anything to it and possibly mess it up.
The Height of this tiny tricycle is: 15"
The length of the seat is: 3 3/4"
The back wheels height is almost:6 3/4"
The front wheel height is: 9"
The distance apart of the back wheels: 10"
The distance between the back wheels: 7 1/2"
    The length is: 18"
The wooden hand grips length: 2 3/4"
The length of wooden (hubs) between the spokes: 2"

I am not quite sure of the material on the seat, we don't want to take apart to find out yet. The hand grips are wood and the hubs are wood also, but the tricycle is metal.

It's a decor item made around the 1980's. They also make the miniature horse tricycles.

Agree with aztom-- modern decorator item. These type items were sold in Hobby Lobby and similar shops.

Are y'all sure this came from Hobby Lobby and/or similar shops? Because as I said, I found in a home (falling down/in) on our property off of the Natchez Trace in Mississippi that hadn't been lived in for many years. My ex-father in law sold me the property with everything on it, 10-15 yrs ago, and he had purchased from someone else many many years before and they weren't the owners when home was lived in. The home was caving in when I first purchased the property and now it's completely down. The nearest Hobby Lobby is over an hour and half from this property and not even sure if a Hobby Lobby was even in existence when the house owners lived there (but not sure, it'd been over 30+ years ago and more) Please help me

I am not sure I agree with az and Scott what's the seat made of under the fabric never seen hobby lobby have that old fabric on a seat I think its a old doll tricycle if get a chance get some closer picks of the bolts and other detailed areas. they are right hobby and others make these but they replica off the old ones so a lot of people just assume its a hobby lobby special but I don't think this one is.

Vanskyock24, thanks alot, I can't post any more photo's on this site on this commented site. After we get back from town, I could send u an email. Can we send messages to each other on this site? I'll post pictures of the bolts and closer views of each detail of the tricycle. Thank you so very much for your comment about this tricycle.... :)

Thanks, I will be trying to find out alittle more, but I have numerous items inside my home that i'm not trying to sell, just collect.

I stick by my original post, 1980's would put in your time frame.

The clues are the black iron this is made from. It's the same finish on newer black pipe or what is known as gas pipe. The modern welds is another.

I have thousands of pages of original and reprinted catalogs from 1860's to the 1960's and have never seen reference of these small steel wheeled trikes. There were larger ones made but they were not welded and had adjustable handlebars and seat.

      Sorry kickoff time, Go Broncos!

I am sorry ,but I have to agree with AzTom ,and the *fact*that I had one exactly like this a couple of years ago,now sold.It is simply just a decor piece made to look old,IMO if it were left out in the elements the wood hand grips would be in worse shape. And I believe you could say this came from any "Hobby Lobby" type(not only "HL") store that sells decor pieces, and maybe even mail order.Hope this helps!

I seen a lot of these re pops but none with this type of seat on it that's why I would get it checked out in person. and gar it wasn't left out in the elements he stated it was in a house that fell down. if anybody can send a link of a hobby lobby special with the seat made like this please do. and if google doll trikes they are made of the same pipe
