VioletOrange has recently posted four Patrick Nordström vases, so I thought I'd post my (somewhat more modest) vase, just for the sake of comparison! One of the most influential ceramists in Denmark, Patrick Nordström (1870-1929) was actually Swedish and grew up close to Höganäs, known for its pottery. Having traveled quite a bit (mostly staying in Germany and studying art), he eventually moved to Denmark and established his first pottery workshop in 1902. Later, at Royal Copenhagen, Nordström was a pioneer who developed many of the glazes Royal Copenhagen became known for - Sung, Ox-Blood and others. Read more about him in VioletOrange's post. Interestingly, after his death in 1929, his workshop was taken over by Natalie Krebs and Gunnar Nylund when they started the highly respected Saxbo Pottery!

Height: 10 cm (4 inches). Mark: Patrick Nordström's monogram ('P' and 'N' intertwined) along with 'ISLE' (now Islev), today a Copenhagen suburb, then in the countryside and the place where Nordström had his workshop. Moreover, the year 1924.
