This is an original 1-sheet size Dante lithograph from my private collection of Magic posters. This posters advertised the Dante Magic show at The Winter Gardens Theatre in the United Kingdom during 1936. I had this poster professionally linen backed but was not able to complete restoration on it due to the fact that I could not locate another copy of this completed poster. This is the only known copy left in existence!

Dante (1883-1955) was born Harry August Jansen in Denmark. He emigrated to the U.S. as a small boy and started out in magic as an illusion builder. He later built illusions for Howard Thurston, who was credited for giving Jansen his stage name "Dante".

Dante toured the world with his show "Sim-Sala-Bim", including on Broadway. Sim Sala Bim was Dante's trademark which he used as his magic words. He was often billed as "King of Magicians".
