I need information on this coin,Julius Caesar ancient coin,not perfect round,19.9grams,I can't make out every letter but I can make out the name,"Caesar",the back has,"SC" with what look like a soldier,about 8 years ago a man gave me the contents of the junk on his porch,while sorting thur it I found this coin inside an old clothes box,don't know much about it,hope someone can id this coin and tell me what it is called.
Looks like Caesar Vespasian, year AD 69-79. If so it should read something like: "IMP CAES VESPAS AVG P M TR P P P COS III"

With a weight that much it sounds like a sesertius coin. Could be very valuable, a few hundred to a thousand USD!
Olofz I look with my glass and it does have the writing on front,I can't make out all the writing on the back,but it look like the coin on the site,I'm not sure how it got on his porch,he was moving,he had pulled boxes of items and said he was going to close the sale,it was late I had bought some items,he asked if I wanted the rest because he was going to get rid of everything I said yes I'll take it and the rest is history,thank you so very much for that great information!
We are sorting through things that belonged to relatives now long gone who we never knew. I have come to the conclusion they hid things and either dropped dead before using them or just forgot where they were. We have found both coins and jewelery in some odd places. Like sewn inside the inner lining of a travel shaving kit. Some of the coins we can't even identify although they are Asian for sure some of the jewelry is marked 10 & 14k. I assume it was hidden for safety reasons but will never know for sure.

Seems the writing on the back should be ROMA, right? I think I can see the letters -OM- at the lower left on the reverse side.

On roman and greek coins the place where the coin was minted is often indicated on the back, I think that's why it says ROMA. Some Greek coins have CON (Constantinople) or NIKO (Nicosia).
