This is how you can use your pins/brooches in a new way!

Here the two rows necklace is jadeite, first pic is the actual color.
The pins in 2nd are victorian paste and silver, 3rd is diamond and emerald frog on gold and silver, but not sure so antique...

I always try to buy jadeite when not too high priced, but buying on line is hazardeous! Was foolished number of times, because of the color changing on monitor, but when you guessed well you can be happy! ;-)

you may want to google Chrysoprase beads...

When pictures are clear, you can't be fooled by chrysoprase if you know jadeite. But you can with grade B jadeite or some peking glass with no swirl in it...
I'm always astonished by high prices fetched on EBay by false jadeite , as by bamboo coral sold for "chunky natural undyed", all of these in vintage antique jewelry category!!!

kyratango my dear, I wish you had a true jadeite from the bottom of my heart. I definitely noticed the 'swirl' in the beads and that's the major concern. A grade jadeite should have 'grain' not 'swirl'. Another thing worrying me is the polish. The jadeite beads should look like glass for its high reflective index, while this one has a wax feeling.

The easiest way to tell jadeite from chrysoprase is by their density(jadeite - 3.3, chrysoprase - 2.6, nephrite - 2.9).

I uploaded jadeite beads owned by my friend to illustrate.

shrine, thanks for your new comment. If you see swirls, it is a pic effect. I enlarged a lot an existing pic!
For the wax feeling, as these are old beads wore for long time, I polished them with chinese insect wax (the only treatment accepted for natural jadeite!).
The wonderful translucent jade beads owned by your friend are modern ones engine polished.
Mine aren't translucent, except where the bright green spots are, and there is the typical age and use cracks in some of them.
I will post my two long jadeite necklaces together later!

kyratango - I just realized the 'frog', 'butterfly' and 'lizard' are not parts of the original design, which puzzled me a lot. I know I am sort of suspicious/pessimistic person regarding authentication and was aroused when I saw the wax. There are heaps scammers on the market using wax to hide something, but you know best of your beads.

Will comment on your new post. cheers.
