Looks like Trunk day so I quickly snapped these. Will get better shots later. Have a few old Blue metal type of steamer trunks but this one is really different. Has the Brass ?? or metal ribs on it that are raised. I think it might be European but not sure. I STORE junk ( I mean collectibles ) in it....LOL. Any idea on this trunk as to Age, or maker or history?

Top closes, do not have key but the latches work. Old paper lined inside of it. Regular sized streamer trunk

    Thanks

Really nice! Saw this antique program a few weeks ago and they had an extra highlight about antique trunks. They are highly collectable and some were worth a lot of money! I think the collector they talked to was british.

So be careful with the fabric/paper inside :-). It looks really old. It looks european to me but that's just a non qualified idea of mine. The brassdetails makes me think it's a valuable one.

Lovely "Bentwood" trunk a the English like to call them. Probably from around the 1930's or so. I tend to doubt that those are brass fittings but rather steel colored but hard to know for sure from a picture. Look where there is wear on the brass to see if it is the same color underneath. The green and black is an unusual color and looks really nice. Nice European trunk (English, German or French)

You had asked if this trunk was made by the same maker as the one Scott and I have posted -- although it is of the same style of mine, unless it has the same label it is unlikely it is the same -- there were many makers of this type of trunk. A manufacturer who labels their products tend to stick to labeling and the hardware used seem different on this one.

antiquerose, have a look at the brand logo on the one that I posted the other day. If yours has that particular logo, then it would be a Liprosta as well. Otherwise, probably not. Though, yours does appear to be a nice European trunk.
