i dreamed a long time of this piece ! when i was a child ans where visiting my grand parents in prague, i every year see this vase in antique shops and was wondering that i will buy it one day.... for me its a really nice vase, lot of people prefere the lalique's bacchante, but this is not that bad too.

    H 12,5cm

kyra, just beware of fakes ! the antique piece of malachite are made in cristal, not in glass, and have to be a little bit transparent on sun light. most of recent copy's are signed "desna"

Thanks Paris for the tip! On a glance I saw number of them on Ebay, for sure won't buy online ;-)

i've buy mine online the original have to be exactly 12,5 cm height, if colours are bad, if the glass is clear, or with blue ,rose, amber = copy.

Good to know, paris1925, as I see quite a few of them here in Denmark, too, and I've considered getting one, but they're probably fakes, then!

No not all fakes, there are some original pieces out there, i have one or two, Desna do not fake fakes they make copies from the original mold's and sign every piece on the web site they even tell you the original designer and when first produced.
On the other have there are a few other Czech companies makeing theses vases and figurines and they are very hard to detect from the original's the first hint is to look at the crispness of the piece, is it finely molded? or is it a big vague not so defined? if it is then it's a fake, Hoffman Schlevogt ect pieces would be weighty well defined pieces, also look for wear on the base, always a sure sign of age from being picked up and put down constantly.

as fakes i will say that is not a period production.... i prefer to get originals, made in the 30' when, you compare new laliques ans the old at the museum..... thats a difference! and they also edit new with old molds... but the finish is definitly not the same.

You are right about Desna. While I was browsing through photos today, I saw this and thought oh, is that Desna? I have two small Desna's and love them.
