    If you collect Figural Oil Lamps, you must have heard of the J.F.IDEN Company of N.Y. name and their association with the Boston & Sandwich Manufacturing Company. If not, check inside the glass font of your figural lamps to see if they are marked inside the font with J.F.IDEN, NEW YORK.
    This company which operated from the late 1850's to the early 1870's, purchased their glass fonts from local glass companies like the New England Glass Company and the Boston & Sandwich glass Co. and combined them with these wonderful Bronzed Spelter Figurals with slate bases, that they probably manufactured. This beautiful "Girl With Flowers" Oil Lamp is a fine example of their quality lamps and is not a common lamp. It is very tall at 15" to the top of the collar and 25" to the top of the chimney and is marked accordingly inside the font. It still has it's original finish and is one of many early figural lamps we own. It is the only one we own that is signed J.F.Iden, N.Y. RER(BOB)
