I have here 21 pretty orange to brown bakelite bracelets. 3 of them are stretch - shown in the front row of first picture. I don't think the furthest front brown & tan is bakelite but it is an old plastic brittle - probably Lucite. It needs to be restrung. Also at furthest left front row a wonderful 1.25" orange & brass stretch. Some of these have come up on ebay recently.
Picture 2 shows truer color - the 1/2" carved brown bangle 2nd from front may be my oldest item here. It's only 2 -3/8" opening and purchased as a pair w/a green one. Not quite maiden bracelets, but small! It would be interesting to find out what their original colors were.
Last picture shows my favorites - and another fake - which I really love and am not ashamed of. First bracelet is an amazing rust end of the day 1.25" stretch. I have had it 30 yrs. Next pierced and carved, next - the Fake! but I only paid $6.00 for it a few wks ago. It's probably 80's? Beautiful color and carving. Next basketweave and facet diamond cut and a simple pretty plain .75" wide. I wear these together.
Anyway - this is my obsession! I enjoy getting it out and sharing. My collection is not spectacular but well loved. Nothing's for sale! I wear them and enjoy your comments!
Nice collection! I love the pierced and carved bakelite and the fakelite bracelets! Indeed you shouldn't feel ashamed, its a lovely piece and so its worth collecting.
First off - thank you all for your love: pops, tom, agh, kevin, mike, inky, geo and Kerry!
LOVE these!!! XOXOX
Thank you Newtimes. I love that pierced bangle. I bought it w/the orange one I dropped and broke and then upcycled as buttons. The fakelike is pretty cool. It looks like it should be Chinese lacquer - no. There were some on ebay recently but mine was the VERY best. It's so pretty but lots of chips around the outer ridge. Not good OLD plastic!
Thank you nutsabotas6 - keep looking!
Thank you Phil. I love these rich orange colors. Not bright but warm and rich.
Love you Miss Moon!

Thank you Jewels! If you love bakelite you can find some great examples here on CW. I know a little bit so ask me. Take your time and look thru them all. I do not have the best bakelite on CW. I wish I did but my budget is really low in the last few years. Have fun!
Happy New Year, Mary!
Every time I walk into an Antique Mall, and see a wall or case of Bakelite, guess who comes to mimd. Your “Plastic Fantastic” collection is outta this world. I just love all the colors and textures. Being a fellow “West Coast” native, maybe someday we will run into one another!
Here’s to 2020, and much more beautiful plastics, ( i believe you have them all)
Dear Eileen - Happy New Year!!
I don't have all the great bakelite....gosh darn it! Thank you for your nice comment! Kinda how I feel about your amazing rhinestone treasures. I hope we can meet in 2020. I need to do a CA road trip again. XOXO dear!
Revisiting this amazing “stack” of vintage!
Such beautiful “yummy” colors...
I say “yummy” cuz Bakelite colors are in a class all their own, true “eye candy”!
