Thank you valentino. I'm going to watch Schindler's List. It's one of the best movies to me because the most unlikely, money oriented person was able to be so moved by the plight of the Jews, that he saved so many lives, which is amazing & inspiring to me
A very good movie that always makes me cry. I'm Catholic w/some questions about relatives from Europe who were both lost and survived.
I had no idea it was Remembrance day...I have never really heard of it I must confess. Here in Europe the horrible past is still very much alive every day.

I only knew about it because someone on FB posted it. Yes, here we have sadness in our past but mostly people keep quiet. Friendly debates and disagreements are not welcome in public where someone you don't know might take offence. Freedom of speech! wink. Anyway I know from my trip to Hungary last year there was a lot of resentment towards us - mainly from people my age and older. The nicest and most open were 20-something yr old guys (not girls) who wanted to talk and help if they could. But, hey - I don't mean to stereotype. Maybe the resentment was more "why aren't you spending more money?!" Not all Americans are rich. Love the locket too. A very nice example isn't it?

I m not sure why only 20yr old boys were nice to you in Hungary. I think the other people ideed thought every American tourist must be rich and they are poor and its not fair...or something like that. A pitty.
Well - the young 20 to 30-yr-old boys were mostly bartenders, waiters, tour guides, hostel workers, students? They knew some English and enjoyed speaking it. Probably they were best employed knowing a few languages? Sometimes they would just come up to us in the subway when they saw we were struggling. In our whole 3 wk trip we only ran across 1 American. He heard us talking and ran over to us excited to chat. Of course we liked him too and wanted to know about his life in Gyor. He was married to a gorgeous woman and worked from his computer to the home office in NY. He was the only American! We met Canadians and English, Dutch - but no other Americans. No big deal. Our trip was bus and train travel in hostels. Some VERY nice and others creepy. Mainly nice however. I loved this trip! I wish I could travel to Europe this year but sadly ....or not....instead a few road trips planned.
