Going to casinos used to be fun for collectors. Every casino had dollar slot tokens with a large variety of designs and in many different metals. Over the last decade nearly all the casinos have converted to non-token, cash only machines. This move to cash only machines saved the casinos the expense of token production and handling. It has also cost them my limited patronage since my only interest in the casinos was their tokens. Most tokens ended up as scrap metal. At the Bowler Wisconsin casino the old tokens were used one last time in 2008 when the casino celebrated it’s 16th anniversary. The old tokens had holes drilled in them for use as non-redeemable prize or free play tokens during the event of May 4-10, 2008. The holes in the tokens are randomly located and as far as I know these holed tokens have not been reported anywhere else.

Thanks Sean. Casinos are interesting places to watch mathematically challenged people turn large fortunes into small ones.
