I got this at a yard sale and had it in my laundry room for a long time, then I thought ... why not sand it up?? It was a lot of work, that paint didn't want to come off! But now it is beautiful and unique and is in my front entry way as you go upstairs.

It's a lot easier to use a "paint stripper" to remove layers of paint from wood. Then finish it up with sanding. - I use "Kleen-Strip" gel-based but there are also some eco-friendly brands available like "Citrus-Strip"

I have one just like it :-) Always wondered if it was factory or handmade . I love mine I use it in my bedroom to store things on . The shape is what I love. Mine has original finish dark stain . Nice post and good job on restore !
