Today I found six large Robert Rait spoons at a recycling station. All are stamped Marked 1847, Patent. They are larger than most tablespoons -- approx. 2 ounces each. I don't know much about them but they are really very lovely.
You should be feeling particularly "sunny." :-)
Robert Rait was a New York silversmith, jeweler, and retailer between between 1833 to 1866.

This retail store sold silver made by many fine silversmiths. Therefore, your spoons are probably antique COIN SILVER, which is 900/1000 silver purity, as opposed to 925/1000 purity for sterling. Of course, this would need to be confirmed by a reputable silver dealer who could see them in person.
