I was wondering if anyone could tell me the year on this bottle that I found this past Summer at a garage sale. It says Coca-Cola Bottlings Works, Logansport Indiana, on the front bottom, and Root on the bottom back. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much in advance and wishing all of you an amazing Sunday! : )

Going by Petretti's Coca-Cola collectibles book, your bottle fits into the 1905-1916 time frame. I didn't see a bottle in the book from Logansport, Indiana. maybe Ray or the Cocacolakid can help also.

I did find out the the Logansport Coca-Coca works sign a franchise agreement with Coca-Cola Company in 1907

I posted this on a antique bottle fourm I use, they say it's not really a rare city, just a regular, old mid-script, straight sided coke bottle. I know the mid script on the bottle ( http://www.antiquebottles.com/coke/ ), and the fact that its hand blown, dates it from around 1910-ish. You've got a great find from a garage sale, because I think becasue of the condition and style, this should be worth around 50-75 dollars. I had the same one, I bought it at a antique bottle show for 60 bucks (similar shape). But it's long gone, (by gone I mean my dog's tail hit my shelf and fell the ground and the crown top broke of.) That's my opinon, take ray's advice and comment about it on Doug McCoy's interview on the coca cola overview. Hope this helps.

I posted my ss coke bottle 2 years ago on the fourm, so I don't think you'll find it anymore. But you can try and search for it here: http://www.antique-bottles.net/forum/

Thank you as well for your feedback cocacolakid97 and your effort in getting this information for me. I paid $2.00 for this knowing is was pretty old, but not really knowing much of anything else about it.

Hey I was just wondering. All of the Coca-Cola collectors out there. I would appreciate you sharing what you think this item is worth. Thank you for the response in advance. If I don't get one no big deal as well. I am expecting one of you to come through though with how much pride many of you have and the abundance of knowledge on Coke items between all of you. : )

I dont understand why your asking how much this bottle is worth when cckid97 already told you a year ago....... 50-75$
    16. electobacco electobacco, 12 years ago
Well I will be honest coke.trevor.cola. This bottle is actually worth around $1250.00. So this would be the reason why.... : )

I'm a little curious too, $1250.00? are you sure it wasnt 125.00?

As a normal bottle it is worth in the 65-75 dollar range. But, with these early bottles, the value to a serious bottle collector who collects by city is in how small the town was (small town = small distribution) and how long the bottler was in the bottle (a bottler that purchased his franchise in 1913 and then went to the hobbleskirt in 1916 would have many fewer bottles than one who had had the franchise since 1903). Logansport began bottling in 1907. I personally collect bottles on their beauty and graphic variation, not by city. Your bottle may very well be worth over a thousand, but the circle of collectors willing to pay for it is very small. Plus you need to take into account the case wear on the bottle as well, since bottle collectors prefer pristine examples. One of the local early bottles from the town where I grew up sells for over 3 grand, but I wouldn't want to give over a hundred for it because it is very common looking! Good luck and let us know back if you get that price for it. I hope you do. Happy hunting.

Just an interesting detail for you that Coke bottle collectors fail to mention, is that the straight-sided bottles had a diamond shaped paper label on them & the labels are more valuable than the bottles. Interesting, - but totally useless information for us peons. My mother was born in Logansport.

TGBWC and coke.trevor I found out from avid and knowledgeable Coke collectors in Atlanta and Florida. Surely with you being so connected with other Coke collectors and other resources Coke related you can find out who. This is all I can say..... ; )

I appreciate your comment as well earlycoke. Have a great day everyone. : )

I have a light green 3 piece bim coke bottle that has ROOT on the bottom and cursive Coca-Cola on the center front. Along the bottom side ,in the back it says This Bottle Not Sold. there are no other marks or numbers. no scratches or abrasions, it has some bubbles in the glass. I found it under a house i was inspecting, in the crawlspace, half buried. The bottle looks like electobaccos bottle. any info on this bottle would be great - thanks.

electobacca, look after the word ROOT and see if there is a number, that is the year of the bottle, I do collect Logansport bottles and have never seen this one. I also have a question since this is my first time on this site, is there a way to contact other members on this site?
