This beautiful punch bowl was found in an unclaimed steamer trunk my father-in-law bid on while living in Hawaii in 1940. Someone said it is American Brilliant.
Does any one know the pattern? Maker? I now need a new pedestal for it.
    Sad story.

I posted this 3 weeks ago in hopes someone could help me find a new pedestal for the bowl. The photo show it with the pedestal before the "accident". My daughter wants it at her wedding next year. Maybe I can have a base made from silver or something like that. Any suggestions or direction would be so appreciated.

Sad story indeed! Chances of finding a matching base are slim to none. This was a very valuable piece until the "accident" a fantastic pattern. It is American Brilliant from around 1900. I will check my books to see if I can find the pattern.

Thank you for your reply. I know the chances of finding a base is remote to say the least. I am including a link for you to see more photos of the punch bowl so you can see the pattern better. Just copy and paste into your browser. Thank you so much for any information.

Hello, Still have not found the pattern. It is very close to a pattern named "Azetc" cut by Libbey of Toledo, Ohio. Here is what I suggest. Check on ebay under American Brilliant Cut Glass and look up glasshound4, his name is Tommy, you can email him from ebay . Or, contact Franz Hellwig @ franzwig@cox.net Both men are advanced cut glass collectors and they may even have a non matching base that will fit your bowl. Good luck and let me know if you get any results...............Mark

      Hi Holly,

Very nice punchbowl - I personally don't think it's a known pattern. It's a shame about the base-it will be very difficult to find a replacement although most generic cuttings might fit and hold the bowl. You may be better off on just allowing it to sit on the plug.

Holly....if you haven't found a base yet, I just noticed a ebay auction listing for a base only. Not exact to yours. Don't know if you're interested in looking...If so, see the following link to that auction:

      http://cgi.ebay.com/AMERICAN-BRILLIANT-ERA-CUT-GLASS-PUNCH-BOWL-PEDESTAL-/260824227068?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cba55dcfc

The seller's name is : dance1cw ....and the auction has 4+ days left, with current bid at $15.00

      Don't know if it helps!

Beautiful bowl, be careful in buying bases. You must have it fitted and it needs to be very close in the top diameter and the plug diameter. The plug needs to be the right length as well. It is very hard to match the base to the top. You can also have the plug removed so the bowl has more area to sit on.
