    I bought this at an estate sale a long time ago. Written on the bottom was a tiny sticker that says "Tassel Box." The top comes off and the inside is lined with a felt like fabric. It looks Medieval or Renaissance. See the complicated detail of metal. (The white dots look like someone was painting a room and this is overspray). I would assume it is a reproduction because the condition is perfect. But it just doesn't seem like something someone would make a reproduction of. Anyway, this is my "mystery object." Any ideas?

      Excellent, really interesting comments. Thank you both.

      The pictures are misleading as to size. The size is more like a reliquary.
      The box is 12" long by 7 1/2" wide by 8" tall.
