Found a beautiful glass wine carafe with it's original cork and aerator intact. It has a gold webbing on the outside of the glass and metal surrounding the glass with embossed grapes. I have been unable to locate anything like it on the web despite its "horseshoe and A" marking on the bottom. Does anyone have any information about it's history?

Surprised to see your carafe - I have the exact ( decanter ) carafe but it is musical and does not have any mark on the bottom except Japan. I never knew what the metal was before I saw your photo and have before cleaned it with Brasso - tried with Silvo today and I have an awful lot of rubbing to do. I have had this for approximately 40 years and it was bought second hand then.
