This is a framed, matted drawing of a European (?) scene. (I removed the piece from the frame to photograph it.) On the bottom is handwritten information but it is illegible to me. On the back someone wrote Frederick Stuler ?? There is a small sticker on back that says "Picture and mirror dept, the May Co, sixth floor. Not sure if this came from the California or Cleveland May store. Questions... Is this a litho, drawing or ??. Does anyone recognize the scene or able to read the writing on the bottom? Any helpful information is welcome. Thx!

On the bottom right it says "Original Radierung" or 'Original Etching'.

The shape of the "R" on Radierung led me to the first letter on the left word: Rothenberg.

Google Rothenberg images and you will see the same scene here:

It is the "Roeder Arch and Markusturm", one of the towers on the original wall built in the 11th century.

      "Rothenberg & Markusturm"

Let's google "Rothenberg & Markusturm" Radierung!

There is a coloured version of the same image here:
      http://www.kiefer.de/auktion_artikel_details.aspx?KatNr=6414&Auktion=82

The text says that the signature is "Undeutlich sign." - They can't read it either!

Further below is another view of the tower too by the same artist.

"Undeutlich sign." would mean that it is not a German name, I suppose.

Actually there is another third etching of the area on that page above.
So far the signature defeats me.
      Maybe someone else can help?

Frederick 'Stuler' might have been a former owner.

Wow... I'm learning a lot and having fun at the same time. You're AMAZING.
      Thx!
