I just picked up this piece and dont really know anything about it or what it is or the time period it is from. I was told it once had an elaborate mirror that sat on top but it was stolen when this person had it moved. Also has two ornamental pieces that go in the corners that are squares with similar wood work that is on the doors(they are not attached). Has a shelf inside that I took out to wipe down. The bottom has a type of material on it and so does the shelf. Any info is much appreciated.

This is a French Style Etagere used in Victorian times to house items of decor. There would have been, as you stated, a top with probably a mirror. Would have fit inside a Parlor for the homes finer items to be displayed. Beautiful piece.
