Up until 1911 when the Supreme Court said that Standard Oil was a monopoly and made them divide up into 33 smaller companies, we all knew what the name of the Big Fish was! It was Standard! Then came all the "little Fish" with all their cool names and logos like Indian Oil,
Mohawk gas, Polly, White Eagle, UTOCO, and many many others. Just like in the Ocean, however, there were some big fish that were always lurking around and one by one ate the little fish until we are back where we started, and only have a few huge fish left in the ocean of the oil business. Chevron is definitely a huge fish and even ate Texaco in 2008! Who would have thought that any fish would be big enough to eat Texaco?
