Not really my field but question several things. Only the inside is terracotta? That doesn't sound like Indian construction to me. The pointed bottom style baffles me also on the Indian theme as they would have to dig a hole for it to stand upright. That style is usually for containers that fit in wooden boxes etc that have holes to receive the bottoms so they stand upright. Somebody posted something like this about a year ago that set in holes in the bottom of a box, but just don't know where to look for it. I wouldn't even know where to start a search for that old poste. Sorry.

Mssue64, I'm not looking! That's your job. I just remember that somebody on CW or elsewhere, posted something like this that fit into a raised false bottom in a case that bottles like this fit in to stand upright. The false bottom had holes to set the bottoms in. Even Coke did this sort of packaging in ancient times but don't waste time looking there.
