I am from Dublin, the home of Guinnes, and was very pleasantly surprised to be given this from a flea market in the midwest by my brother-in-law. It is a tin sign, and I've never seen another like it.

Those Guinness thermometers are rather hard to find. I think I've only ever seen one like it and that was at a breweriana show. I have one similar to it except mine is by the Old Reading Brewing Company out of Reading, PA. Very nice piece, the older Guinness stuff is getting harder and harder to find.

According to David Hughes in his book "The Guide To Guinness Collectables", this round thermometer dates to about 1952. If you're into Guinness advertising art by John Gilroy, you might also find this CW article interesting: http://www.collectorsweekly.com/articles/guinness-collectors-snap-up-secret-stash-of-unpublished-advertising-art/
