The story on this chair was from the time I can remember anything (as in very very young), this chair was on the farm at my maternal grandparents in S.E. Georgia who ran a small dairy. When I was a very wee lad of maybe starting at age 5, all I remember hearing "over & over" was how this chair was 150 years old. And were talking the 1960's when I first started hearing this. By my math that puts this chair around 1810 or earlier. I've been told by others that did not know "squat" about my family, that the chair appeared "very old". It looks as if the cowhide was stretched when it had just been skinned & cured over the 4-corners and edges of the seat and then let dry. That hide is just as hard (and furry) as it can be. I just think it's a neat old chair and one that has been in our family for many many years and a piece that I would "not" part with at any price. The pictures don't do the chair the justice it deserves. It is a very cool piece of early southern "Americana".
