I'm trying to identify this doll. Can anyone tell me who she is. She belonged to my aunt who grew up in the 50's and 60's. Her feet were held on by thick rubberbands that attach to internal hooks but the bands broke. Still have the feet though. I wonder if there is anyone who can fix the feet in California. She has joints on her ankles, knees, hips and arms.

I just posted a picture of my valentine dolls ankle openings. I thought you might be interested mani in the difference in how these leg openings are from the link you sent. I don't know if you've ever seen this type of opening.

Hi, she is a Valentine Ballerina doll (I believe). That explains the feet so she can go en pointe. Mani will know more :)

Thanks Jewels. I thought her feet were shaped for high heel shoes. Her ears are pierced also so I thought she might be an early glamour type doll.

The Valentine Doll, Inc. company a USA manufacturer of hard plastic and vinyl dolls is best known for it's ballerina dressed dolls of the 1950s which John Landers was responsible for.
She is the Valentine" Walking Ballerina "1957 ! . Some do not have knee's that bend and feet are molded into a toe stand do not move so she would not have joint at ankle and they are just Ballerina dolls . Here is one like yours and her feet are off also :-) By the term walking it is that her feet can lay flat or point on toes . Some have arms positioned in a ballet form over there head . So there were several variations of Valentine Ballerina .

Hi again, yeah, you might be right, I'm looking at images of the ballerina doll now--not sure of their sizes and such, her feet and hands look right. There are some doll experts on here who will know more. I'm just a novice, I have always loved dolls, and have several, but not a collector. Well, if three is a collection, then I might be : ))) She is lovely--do you have clothes?

I had to stop short for a phone call so I did want to add the VW is Valentines Mark but there are some Ballerina dolls that look like theirs that are not marked for some reason . The 17 in size although she is 18 inches they seem to always mark them a number lower for some reason . What a lovely keepsake from your Mom ! You should be able to find her a ballet dress and shoes fairly easily on ebay :-)

check out the new pic I posted. Have you ever seen a leg opening on a ballerina doll such as this?
    12. Manikin Manikin, 7 years ago
Yes the foot would slip into it . There was a hook inside leg someplace that the rubber or elastic would hook to .
