    Rare collection......Rare find

This is a lot of 4 Butter-Nut coffee cans and 2 Butter-Nut coffee jars. The lot includes:the earliest labels found:

A single 10 pound coffee can with the lid. The label has the earliest Butternut label found--dated in the early 1910's.to mid 1920 This is so rare that we have been unable to find any retailer who has even seen one. One of the possible reasons that it is rare was that it was a highly functional container (with a handle and lid and good volume). In the depression that was a valuable "re-purpose".

1... 3 pound round tin with Butter-Nut pressed on lid. This is also from the earliest advertising in the early 1910 to mid 20's. Missing orginal paper label (RARE)

1.. 3 pound tin with the lids. from the earliest advertising

1 . 1 pound tin without a lid from the earliest advertising

1 2 pound glass coffee jar with the screw top lid. Re-useable jar that fit a mason ring/cap popular in 1930. With one the first labels used

Vintage coffee cans are highly collectible. This brand was best known in middle America (Omaha, Nebraska) in the early 1910's to1920's .30, & 1940's. These are in good shape for their age and are complete with the lids with the exception of the 1 pound tin. The retail collector's value on this collection is estimated at about $900. However, the #10 can is so rare that the estimated value varied widely--as much as $ 1,000.00 alone.

I have all of these and more (10 pound included) and would like to sell them. Any suggestions on where to start? I also have a Butternut Gunpowder Tea tin but have no info. Any ideas of value?

I have a small one cup manual drip coffee maker with Butternut imprinted on the lid. This is tin and very old but in excellent condition. Is this something a collector would desire?
