Thank you Oscar for your lovely designs! Here's a few images from Vogue Patterns magazine June/July 1973. You are so handsome!

I had an interview w/Oscar de la Renta in 1991 when I was the fashion editor at the La Jolla Newspaper. He is holding my Fall Fashion edition. I was nervous but he was so nice. He was in San Diego for trunk shows at Saks and I.Magnin La Jolla. I miss those stores!

He designed beautiful garments. He loved women and we love him! Thank you for all you have created, you will be missed.

A designer who made clothes to celebrate women and not sexualise them.

I'm sure he thought you beautiful too.

Thanks Kyra - I keep 3-ring binders of "inspirations" (how old-fashioned is that - I think it's called pinterest now) and over the years - his designs were in there! This is me a very LONG time ago. Thank you!

And thank you to all my CW friends for opening this post and taking a minute to honor a truly original designer.

Hey Val... How amazing that you had an opportunity to meet him... BTW... I worked in that store right around the same time... I think in 1989... It's now a DSW, Staples :(

Hi Nadia! I mostly worked with the La Jolla locations but every once in awhile went down to the other stores for trunk shows - and of course window shopping and sales (what I could afford!) 2 great department stores! The I.Magnin in La Jolla was a beautiful old store. Thanks for enjoying - we were there at the same time.

Perks of working in fashion... I also got to meet Elizabeth Taylor, when she introduced her perfum line, Mary Gray of St. John, and Aidren Vitadinni who was really not very nice...

Wow Nadia! I would love to have met Elizabeth Taylor. I've seen her but not very close up (store setting). Have not met those 2 ladies. Does Vitadinni still design or it all license now? I also met Bill Blass, Bob Mackie (sorry - the best!! - he worked for Edith Head and lived to tell!), Carolyn Roehm, Carolina Herrera, Tommy Hilfiger, Mossimo (Hey - he is Handsome! and a smart designer).
