This item was gifted to me and is a silver-plated coffee thermos pitcher from the Canadian National Railroad (CNR). It may be sterling silver but I don't see any marks indicating this. It was likely used on the passenger trains or possibly in one of the several hotels owned by the CNR. I don't know how old it is, but the removable base plate is attached with Phillips head bolts so it can't be older than 1934-36... although I suppose those could've been replaced/updated at a later time.

The thermos bottle is intact and this item is fully functional, but I use it for display purposes only. At one point I polished the silver to a mirror finish but decided I preferred the tarnished look and so that is the way it remains.

It measures 5-3/8" in diameter and 9-5/8" tall.

If I recall correctly it had some blemishes that really showed up when polished so the tarnish hides all the imperfections, and after an initial polish it has tarnished quite evenly as well which is nice.
