Hello, this is a 1976 coleco telstar video game system, in good working order. It has an original box. Found this at a video gamers conference for 3$. Thanks for looking! Julie

Hi Alan! Do you? Funny! I have never seen them. It is soooo 1970's :)
    3. Jewels Jewels, 6 years ago
Ahh yes it is Pod! I must say, you look remarkably better than this game system! Thank you! He wants to preserve video games and systems, even ugly ones. That's serious!

Grew up with this.....Here is a Visual of the Game:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdjE4Yywmpc

I showed this to my Son. He broke out laughing at this Game due to the graphics, and HOW simple it is (compared to games now). A ping pong ball going back and forth.........then he just about pee'd his pants when I also said to him

"How often we missed hitting the stupid ball"

I think he fainted [...thud...] when he heard that, as he said "Who could miss those balls at that Speed......LOL"

      We Did :-(

My Dad was VEHEMENTLY opposed to video games when I was growing up.

In fact, I remember Christmas 1987 and we were at my grandparent's house in Hawaii (my Dad's father). And my Dad made me 100% promise and swear that I would not ask for a NES System for Christmas from my Grandfather, because my dad was 100% certain that he would get it for me. So I had to ask for a Kite Set and Cufflinks. How's that for being born under a bad sign?

My mom started to disagree later on, though, as more and more kids had video game systems and I had only a TI99 4A personal computer (google it).

By 1990, my mom had decided to sneak me a video game system, but it couldn't be the TV monopolizing NES. She opted instead for the GameBoy.

My mom was one of the head coordinators of the school carnival, which was the biggest event of the year for our little Catholic grade school. And there were all kinds of raffles and giveaways going on all the time. My mom went and got an original GameBoy system at FedCo and brought it to the carnival and then announced over the loudspeaker that I had won a surprise raffle. My dad wasn't thrilled, but he couldn't argue with it or take it away, so it was all mine!

I still have the original Gameboy, all games, instruction manuals, and case. In fact, since I rediscovered it recently in the garage, I have been taking it to the poker table in Vegas and playing it at the table (though I do not carry the original GameBoy due to massive battery use, I take a GameBoy Pocket instead that I picked up a few years later and only requires 2 AAA batteries).

Having written all this, I think I will actually show and tell my GameBoy set, and probably copy and paste most of this story. :)

Thanks, as always, for posting Jewels!

My Gradfather passed away in January of 1988. My grandmother in 1992. All my grandparents had passed by 1994. They were older. My Papa (mom's Dad) was born in 1910.
    18. MisterEsoteric MisterEsoteric, 6 years ago
My grandparents moved to Hawaii from Japan before WWII broke out.

They lived in Manoa, right by UH.

Dad went to Iolani back when it was an all boys school. His sisters went to Roosevelt as they were kicked out of Punaho.

Long story that could go on for days. ????

      Oh I'm sorry :(

I know all those places you mention :)
    20. MisterEsoteric MisterEsoteric, 6 years ago
No need to apologize. I'm not mourning the loss anymore. Hell, I gave my grandmothers ulolgy when I was like 12.

There are lots of other Hawiian places worth mentioning. I pretty much grew up there until I was about 16.

The pigeons in front of the Holiday Mart where they had the BEST Manapua.
Putting on my best Aloha shirt for dinner at Suehiro.
Heading to Shirokiya at Ala Moana for custard cakes then mom would head into the Mumu section at Liberty House while I would hope for a smoothie from Thirst Aide Station in the new Makai Market or maybe fuck from Pattis or a sundae from Farrel's.

Then we would go to Zippy's or Wisteria one night.

Then, of course, lest we forget the Aloha Swap Meet! That's where I cut my teeth haggling for crap I don't need.

We always stayed at one of the Outriggers or The Prince Kuhio (my personal favorite).

Wife and I got married in Hawaii too. :-)

Oh wow! Awesome! Great memories! Ala moana! I miss that place! This might cause backlash--not a huge zippys fan...cringe...:) the swap meet! I bought a cool carved wooden santa doing Shaka from there! And an Indian belt with bells! Funny place! I love outrigger and the royal hawaiian. Shave ice on the north shore after the beach... Ahh
    22. Jewels Jewels, 6 years ago
And that is an awesome place to get married!

My cel phone autocorrected "duck" to "fuck" when describing Patti's Chinese Kitchen. Sometimes autocorrect is a blessing and a curse. ????

Laughing! I knew what you meant! :) it is the terrible as well, when it won't let you write the word you want!

This is actually one of the reasons why I love my iPhone.

Let's break this down for a second. My iPhone knew to autocorrect the word DUCK to the word FUCK, because it knows me so well.

Artificial Intelligence is here, right in front of us, but the reality isn't nearly as sad as that heart wrenching film.

Bhahah! My phone won't let me cuss! Always tries to correct me! :) I never saw that movie...doesn't sound light :/
