From an estate in Florida I got these insignias and pins. I believe these are from pre -WWII. Not exactly sure but it could be NY National Guard. I also have 2 Purple Hearts from this individual. Also some old buttons. Anyone know much about the 107th?
Yes, pre-WWII, and probably closer to WWI. Also yes, the 107th was part of the New York National Guard. All National Guard regiments were numerically numbered from 101 through 300 at the start of WWI. In 1917, the old New York 7th Infantry was re-designated as the 107th Infantry, New York National Guard. During WWI it fought in France and Belgium as part of the 27th Division.
The bronze enlisted man’s collar disk was standard issue in WWI and worn until 1923, when the disks went from bronze to gilt. The F indicates F Company. The rest appear to be officer’s collar insignia. In 1924, the crossed rifles designating infantry went from bolt action rifles back to flintlock muskets, so three of these should be pre-1924. The US/state insignia were made with brass/gilt US and bronze/darkened state abbreviation starting in 1923.
