I picked up this beautiful lamp base at Urban Ore today. the bottom third was covered w/ fire engine red enamel which i've removed. The mahogany base was also covered w/ it and i'm restoring it too. it's missing the lamp parts and shade, but i can probably come up w/ an appropriate one. if anyone has ideas for the shade, i'd love to see some! it's huge - this piece alone is 25 inches tall. the ceramic is in perfect condition. interestingly, the design is on the inside as well. i wonder who it was made by?? no signature that i can see.

the wooden base is definitely teak. i need to put a walnut stain on it to darken it up a bit. when i removed the red paint, it stripped whatever finish was on it too. i think it was much darker than it is now. what kind of shade and finial should i use on this lamp? i want to fix it up real nice. if i couldn't find anything out about it, i was going to use it in a garden sculpture.

Like this, but depending on your fitting, maybe not as long, as you want to show off as much of the lamps possible.

thank you maryh1956! i think i'm going for a chestnut/brown colored, short, but wide barrel lamp shade. what do you think?

Sounds like it would match well with the colors in the glaze, but will there be enough light to show off the glaze?
