I think this is a little space heater, from the cuppling it looks like a water or steam based. The front ceramic pieces come out. It is manufactured by Gaffler and Sattler of Los Angeles. 10,500 BTU's. Is it a very common heater, I haven't seem one before. Value?
Thanks, Tom

This is actually a natural gas fueled space heater. These were used in homes from the 1890s -1950s. You'll notice the gas jets positioned at the base of the 'radiant brick' elements. These bricks would heat up with the gas flame & eventually glow a cherry red. These types of ventless heaters are now strictly forbidden by contemporary fire codes & so their practical useage and value is about zero. These days, these units are used as heaters only by those folks who don't care about their own safety & think that fire marshals are just kidding. But, they are used as decorative items (I tear them down & use the back firewall as a proscenium-frame for mosaic projects.). I've collected quite a few of these, and a reasonable value for your item would be about $15-25. ( I've gotten similar items for $4.) Anything more would be delusional. By the way, what is the serial or model number for this unit (I'm trying to tabulate a list of design features of the firewalls.)
    I hope this helped,

Many many people that live in rural area still use space heaters, in fact, that is how the Homestead (family house passed down) is heated to this day. People in the country I guess have more common sense, and even children are expected to be mindful.
I think it's a beautiful piece and I came across it looking for examples of a vintage Haylo space heater I want to restore, and I've see them listed from 95 to 115 bucks
