"International Fire Extinguishr Co. Cincinati Ohio. J.B. Wagner Genl. Sales Agent. Can't find any date or model numbers. I have never seen one like this. At first I thought the top was a home made part but it was made with the bottle holding bracket and the orginal acid bottle. Has anyone seen one like this or know anything about it?

      It's a soda-acid fire extinguisher probably manufactured around 1895. It's all original. Thanks--Doug.

In one of my previous lives, right after I got out of the sservice in 1967, I took a job servicing Fire Extinguishers.....we did many of these the main body held a solution of water an baking soda (Soda Water) and the bottle held a measured amount of acid......eeverything was cool as long as the two didn't come together..............but whaen it was turned upside down the resulting reaction created high pressure water with a residual of soda but it put out most fires,,,, not good for electric fires!
Lots of folks clean them up, take out the acid bottle(NOTE THE WORD ACID) and turn them into other things, ashtrays, lamps, doorstops, whatever. Very pretty when cleand and polished and they were produced in the thousands........
