This is another tea set found in the estate. Only these four pieces were found. No lid for the sugar bowl. Again I was unable to find anything truly close to this online. Any help identifying this would be greatly appreciated. There are 3 grand-daughters and I'd like them to have as much info as possible when these become theirs.

I have a similar teapot from my grandmother, and then another I found in a thrift store a few years ago, both stamped Japan like yours. Let's see if anyone has info to offer on them.
Does anyone have an extra "lid" for the "sugar bowl"?

Hm, well no information in that post, really.
These pieces with the raised relief decoration are referred to as Moriage wear. I am not an expert , but from what I’ve seen, the brown pieces were very popular during the post WWII period, and made in occupied Japan, or shortly thereafter and imported in mass quantities to the US and UK. As they were made by various companies for an importer (s), you will have difficulty identifying any maker, as there’s no specific mark. If you search “Brown moriage wear teapot or tea set”, you will see a huge array of examples
Thanks, maryh1956, that is interesting and helpful information. I'm learning about Moriage here on CW. It is so appealing. I will follow your suggestion and look for more examples, thank you. :)
Oh if I may ask: My teapots say simply Japan. So not made during Occupied Japan years, I assume, and I thought after the war they had to say Made in Japan, is that correct? So what is the period for just the plain word Japan? And does it matter what color ink the word is stamped in? Thanks again for any further information.
Well thanks for making the dating system clear anyway, jwendell, lol. So basically the teapots I own that are stamped Japan COULD have been made from 1921 - 1941, OR after 1952. Sheesh!!! :P

Okay, the teapots I own that like the ones above (minus the netting they are basically the same), one came from my grandmother, I don't know when or where she got it, another I bought at a yard sale because it looked like hers. So I have two matching, both say simply Japan on the bottom. So obviously provenance is questionable, stamp is questionable, and so is my sense of any logic in the world, lol. :P
