Although I don't collect antique canes or walking sticks, when I spotted this beauty I just "had" to have it; and now I'm wondering if anyone out there in CollectorLand can be of help identifying it.
The eagle's head (4 inches long) is incredibly lifelike and those glass eyes make it seem as if it's actually looking at you! The "face" design on that bone collar (with the original red and green colors mostly worn off) looks like it could possibly be Native American, though that's just a guess on my part. It has appropriate age-related wear, and the original horn tip is worn away completely at the very bottom.
It measures about 35 inches and the shaft is sturdy and straight. Where the collar joins the shaft measures 1 inch.

Any thoughts on it's origin, or the (highly talented) maker?
    Thanks in advance!

Thanks! I thought so too, and couldn't resist buying it even though I normally don't collect antique canes.

Very beautiful cane! I think you will start a new collection soon! ;-)

Nicely carved head. I don't see anything to suggest Native American on any of it.

Kyratango- no, I wouldn't be able to collect canes too- it's already hard enough saving up for the usual stuff I buy (deco & nouveau)...: -(

That face on the bone collar kinda looks, to me, like it "could" be North West Coast Native American- but that would just be a totally uninformed guess.
If anyone has a clue as to the possible origin please let me know?

I fell in love with the eagle carving, but would really like to know more about it aside from the fact that it looks pretty old (1910's? 20's? 30's?).
