I was given this bayonet as a gift from a member of my grandfather's church in Stockton, Missouri roughly 20 years ago. I've recently been trying to find another one like it, but can only find info regarding the stamped markings on the blade and scabbard. One side on the blade has the maker mark of "cof" and a date mark of "44". From my research I found this indicates the manufacturer is Carl Eickhorn Waffenfabrik in Solingen, Germany; manufacture date of 1944. The other side of the blade has serial number "6995". The scabbard also has serial number "6995" under the leather frog. What distinguishes my bayonet from the others I have found is the totenkopf insignia on the frog, and a leather fringe on the front of the scabbard protruding from underneath the frog. I haven't seen another K98 bayonet with either feature and I'm curious to know what it is worth.

Hello Driewer, I would place the value on you bayonet between $150.00-$200.00 because you have matching serial numbers which is getting harder to find. In addition, you have the leather frog, with the addition of the totenkopf, which was probably a G.I. add on.

The SS did affix the Totenkopf to their bayonet frogs, I have one of those, but in better condition that was a vet capture.
