    CAN ANYONE PROVIDE INFO ON THIS WHISTLE. IS IT HANDMADE? IS IT A BUFFALO OR BULL? PIPESTONE OR SOAPSTONE? IT IS A VERY HARD STONE. THERE IS PART OF AN OLD STICKER ON THE BELLY. IS IT NATIVE AMERICAN AND OLD? ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. I HAVE HAD IT FOR YEARS AND CAN'T FIND ANY INFO. THANKS

      It isn't stone, it's pottery, handmade, and Mexican. This is a black clay whistle from Oaxaca. They've been popular Mexican souvenir items for years, and come in many forms, birds being the the most popular. But I've seen turtles, rabbits, dogs, horses, frogs, cats, and pigs, to name a few. They are still being made, so it's a little difficult to date. Probably no older than the 1960's.

      And I'd say it's a steer.
