      I thought it might be a butter mold.

      Mabye an item that would go over a candle, to enhance the light from it? (So, if you put them together vertically with the two half-holes at the bottom, the base of the candle would go through the bottom hole, and the smoke would rise through the top hole?) Pure speculation on my part...

      You put water and the frosted glass roll delivered the right amount of water to the stamp back rolled on it!
      Not licking the stamps anymore ;-)
